Dear Friends,

Pat LeeWelcome to the Hormone Balance Hotline! If there was one thing that John Lee, M.D. was committed to doing, it was taking complicated medical information about hormones and making it easy for all of us to understand. My husband believed that everyone had the right to know the facts about hormones and make their own informed choices about balancing them. He opposed doctors and drug companies that withhold information from patients, treat them as if they cannot understand medical concepts, and expect them to surrender control over their health decisions.

While taking control over your hormone health may seem like a daunting project, I can assure you that it is not. In this issue, we share Dr. Lee’s straightforward approach to balancing your hormones and becoming an informed, powerful participant in your health decisions. Like Dr. Lee, we believe in your ability to be your own health advocate and support you in your efforts.

Yours for good health,
Pat Lee

Four Simple Steps to Balance Your Hormones

Are you wondering if your hormones are out of balance? Do you want to balance them naturally? If so, we have good news for you. Balancing your hormones safely and naturally is not as difficult as you might think. In fact, we can break it down into four easy steps. Each step is based on Dr. Lee’s decades of research into hormones and his commonsense guidance on achieving hormone balance. Here is how you can balance your hormones using Dr. Lee’s time-tested methods.

Step One – Take an Inventory of Your Symptoms. Many health problems are at least partially caused by hormone imbalances. If you want to know what your symptoms are saying about your hormones, take Dr. Lee’s free Hormone Balance Test on The Official Website of John R. Lee, M.D. The test will help you take an inventory of your symptoms, tell you which hormone imbalances you may have, and suggest which hormones you may want to have tested by a laboratory to determine if you have an imbalance. The Hormone Balance Test is a great way to start your journey to hormone health.

Step Two – Read What Dr. Lee Says About Your Symptoms. Now that you know what hormone imbalances you may have, learn what Dr. Lee has to say about addressing them. We offer all of Dr. Lee’s books for purchase from our site as well as a library of free articles on a wide variety of hormone health issues. We also offer audio CDs and a DVD if you prefer to learn from Dr. Lee by listening.

People often ask us which of Dr. Lee’s books is right for them. As a general rule, we recommend Dr. Lee’s book “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause” to women who are approaching 40 years old, and “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PREmenopause” to women who are younger than 40 years old. Women who are seeking a simplified guidebook to hormone balance may also want to purchase “Dr. John Lee’s Hormone Balance Made Simple”. Dr. Lee also wrote a great booklet to help men with hormone balance issues such as low testosterone and prostate enlargement. It’s called “Hormone Balance for Men”. To learn more about these books or to purchase them, just click on the titles.

Step Three – Get Your Hormones Tested. We encourage you to get your hormones tested so you can have objective evidence of any hormone imbalance you may have. Dr. Lee talks extensively about hormone testing in his books, and The Official Website of John R. Lee, M.D. provides all of the tests that he recommended. We offer a full array of hormone tests on our website that you take in your home, then mail to ZRT Laboratory.

Before you decide which tests to order, be sure to read what Dr. Lee has to say about the benefits of testing the sex and adrenal hormones using saliva. If you have not done so already, take the free Hormone Balance Test, as it will help you determine which hormones you want to have tested. If you still are not sure of what tests to take, feel free to contact us with your questions. Our customer service team will be happy to help you select the tests that are right for you.

Step Four – Find a Healthcare Provider Who Can Help You. As you learn about natural hormones, you will probably reach a point where you need to consult with a healthcare provider who has studied the subject. You will definitely need a healthcare professional if you decide you need a natural hormone supplement that is only available by prescription.

While a growing number of healthcare providers are educating themselves about natural hormones, finding one of them can still be difficult. To help you connect with one, we offer a page on our website called Find a Doctor. The page contains links to agencies that maintain directories of doctors and other healthcare providers that work with natural and alternative medicines. Not all of these doctors work with bioidentical hormones. However, you will find that many of them do.

Now – Take Action! By this point, you should have the information and support you need to make decisions with your doctor about balancing your hormones. If those decisions involve the use of natural hormone supplements, you will find that there are multiple options for procuring them. Some hormones, such as progesterone and DHEA, are available on an over-the-counter basis and via websites. Other hormones, such as estradiol and testosterone, are only available via a doctor’s prescription. These prescriptions are often filled by a local compounding pharmacist.

So there you have it…a clear and easy way to balance your hormones with Dr. Lee’s expert guidance. If you follow these steps, you will gain the knowledge and the resources that could help you change your health in significant ways and do so using safe, natural means.
